IFSU graduates gather in 1st University Alumni Day Celeb

To celebrate milestones and reminisce good old memories, alumni of Ifugao State University (IFSU), which was known by several names during different timelines in history, came together during the 1st University Alumni Day Celebration, today, at the Open Gymnasium, Lamut campus.

Said event is part of the weeklong celebration of the 102nd Foundation Day and 13th Charter Day of IFSU with the theme, "IFSU: Fostering Inclusivity, Upholding Excellence, and Sustaining Global Competitiveness."

Former educators and employees also came to reconnect with their colleagues and students when they were serving the institution.

The University was founded as a Nayon Settlement Farm School in 1920 by American missionaries. The school was upgraded and named Ifugao Pilot Opportunity School of Agriculture (IPOSA). It was renamed Payon Bugan Pilot Opportunity School of Agriculture (PBPOSA) a few years later in honor of the land donor named Bugan. In 1972, it was converted into Ifugao Agricultural and Technical College (IATC) and then was elevated into Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF). In 2009, ISCAF was converted into now known as Ifugao State University.

In his message, alumnus Gaspar B. Chilagan, Jr., Municipal Mayor of Aguinaldo who served as the guest speaker, said that today’s occasion is a day to remember the past and be thankful to IFSU.

“As alumni of IFSU, it is a perfect opportunity for us to show gratitude to our alma mater, former educators, classmates, and colleagues for they had served as our brothers and sisters when we were miles away from home," added Chilagan.

Dr. Marissa P. Bullong, Vice President for Research and Development, Extension and Training who represented University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon lauded the alumni's contribution to the University and communities, and the prestige that they give to IFSU wherever they go and whatever they do.
