An AC Power Transmission System with Power Factor Load Bank, valued at PhP21,980,000, was officially turned over to the Lagawe Campus of Ifugao State University (IFSU) today, April 25. The ceremony involved a ribbon cutting and equipment tagging signifying the transfer of ownership from Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF) to IFSU.

The parties were represented by HEDF Supervising Administrative Officer Ms. Diana C. Aguilar and HEDF Chief Accountant Ms. Myra Paz Manalo and IFSU University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon and Lagawe Campus Executive Director Dr. Vicky K. Cadalig.

Funded by the HEDF, an autonomous buffer fund supporting the Commission on Higher Education's fiscal independence and adequacy, the equipment aims to provide practical application for the theories learned in the classroom by Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) students. The facility is housed in the Metal and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), the first of its kind in the Cordillera Administrative Region, and is intended to improve metal and allied industries in the region.

The equipment was procured under the project titled "Upgrading of Electrical Engineering Laboratories of Ifugao State University (Lagawe Campus)" led by Engr. Dahlia Gay A. Bunolna.

Dr. Cadalig stated, "This ceremony not only marks a new beginning but also showcases our unified commitment to educational excellence and advancement."

Meanwhile, Chief Accountant Manalo commended IFSU for successfully liquidating all HEDF grants-in-aid, allowing them to fund more proposals from the University. Notably, a P25 million worth of equipment is already in the pipeline for use by Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering students.

"To our future engineers and leaders of our nation, this investment is for you," Dr. Dugyon said. "Embrace the opportunities these new resources provide. Please strive for excellence in all your endeavors."

Dr. Dugyon further urged the students to embrace the spirit of innovation. "Let us leverage these new resources to push the boundaries of knowledge and contribute meaningfully to society. Let us become an inspiration of academic excellence in the country," she remarked.

Engr. Cyrus Camhit, representing the engineering college and students, expressed that the equipment will help prepare students for the demands of the modern industry by providing hands-on experience and practical skills.

"Thank you for your support and belief in our endeavor. We will continue to work diligently to achieve our goals and make a positive impact on our environment,” he added.

Engr. Bunolna, addressing the students, said, "It is for you that we strive to improve and innovate. Let these upgraded facilities serve as catalysts for your academic pursuit and inspire you to achieve greater heights."#Faith B. Napudo
