IFSU Career Dev’t Center, COE educate students on marriage, family relationships


Ifugao State University (IFSU) through the Department of Career Development Center in collaboration with the College of Education (COE)-Potia Campus conducted a Millennial Bedroom Talk on Family, Marriage, and Sex Education to student teachers on March 10, 2023 at the ICDC Talent Co-creation Lab, Potia Campus, Ifugao.

Director Ryan R. Tejada of ICDC said the activity aimed to educate and inspire students, especially those who got married at a young age or during their studies. It further sought to empower and recognize women in their contribution to the society.

Dr. Patricia A. Aliguyon, Chairperson for Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) program, gave an overview of the Bachelor of TLE (BTLED) programs.

In his Opening Remarks, Dr. Matronillo M. Martin, Dean of the College of Education, expressed delight in having students participate in activities and discussions on marriage and family relationships. His message was read by Dr. Aliguyon stating that it's high time that topic on sex education, previously considered taboo was openly discussed among students to further enhance their knowledge and understanding as future educators.

Topics discussed were Family Orientation and Relationship by Ms. Judith L. Javier; Marital Counseling and Smart Parenting by Ms. Rosalia G. Daguio; Marital Talk in Cordilleran Culture by Dr. Hilda N. Immangdul, Dean of the College of Advance Education (CAE); Health Support from IFSU by Ms. Rachelle G. Baguilat, Campus Nurse; Financial Management by Ms. Celeste Talde, Agency Leader of PNB Allianz; Business Start-Up Ideas by Ms. Florence June C. Dela Cruz; Sex Education by Ms. Myra P. Abbugao, Dean of the College of Health Sciences; and Contraceptive and Safe Sex by Ms. Sheryl A. Ngipol, Clinical Instructor.

“The students will be soon tapped to capacitate other students through the Student Community Volunteerism Service of ICDC,” stated Director Tejada.
