Ifugao State University (IFSU) kicked off its celebration of Women's Month today, March 4, under the theme "Lipunang Patas sa Bagong Pilipinas: Kakayahan ng Kababaihan, Patutunayan!"

This activity directly aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which is Gender Equality, and supports both SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).

The launch, attended by employees and students, included a brief overview of the his/herstory of Women's Month. IFSU is also adorned in various shades of purple to symbolize women's empowerment.

Dr. Mary P. Caclini, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon at the event.

Dr. Caclini said the celebration serves as a time to honor all women who have tirelessly contributed to the success and development of humanity.

"It's not about who is more powerful, whether man or woman," Dr. Caclini stated. "True development comes from the collaborative efforts of both men and women."

Lawyer Eugene M. Balitang, a former provincial governor of Ifugao, who served as the Keynote Speaker, recognized the vital roles women play in society and lauded their achievements. "Yung kakayahan ng mga kababaihan, hindi niyo na kailangang patunayan," he emphasized, acknowledging the significant progress women have made.

The Womenโ€™s Month celebration is spearheaded by the IFSU โ€“ Gender and Development Research and Resource Center (GADRRC).#Faith B. Napudo
