IFSU eyed as Center for HR education, volunteerism in Ifugao


To establish Ifugao State University (IFSU) as a Center for Human Rights (HR) Education and volunteers in the province of Ifugao, educators from the different campuses and student leaders were equipped with knowledge on Human Rights at the Multi-purpose Hall, Administration building on September 8, 2022.

Said event was organized by the office of the Gender and Development, Research and Resource Center (GADRRC) in partnership with the Commission on Human Rights- Cordillera Administrative Region (CHR-CAR).

“We want to rekindle the spirit of Human Rights among our educators and volunteers here at IFSU. Empowering them is a great approach to influence the community and the province,” said Atty. Romel P. Daguimol, CHR-CAR Regional Director.

Atty. Daguimol expressed his gratitude to the University for the continuation of its programs that started in 2017. “We hope and look forward to another seminar-workshop here in the University as we will be fully guiding you to become the Center for Human Rights,” he added.

Resource Speakers from the CHR-CAR were Marlyn G. Palangdao, Training Specialist IV, CHR-Baguio lectured on the Overview of the CHRE while Charmaine Joy C. Batong-Ambros, Info. Officer III, centered her topic on the CHR Mandates, Programs, and Services, and Atty. Mabelyn A. Palukpo, Gender and Development (GAD) Focal, emphasized to the participants the Safe Spaces Act and CHR Gender Ombud Guidelines.

The event culminated with the recitation of Panata sa Karapatang Pantao and awarding of certificates to the guest speakers and participants.

Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, University President, represented by Dr. Diosdado M. Aquino, Vice President for Planning, Finance, and Resource Generation (VPPFRG) lauded the participants’ effort and time for joining.
