Ombudsman awards IFSU stude with HIP Award

Mr. Azarel Lex G. Cayong, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering student at Ifugao State University (IFSU) Lagawe campus, was awarded the Honesty, Integrity, and Public Accountability (HIP) Award by the Office of the Ombudsman during a ceremony held on 23 April 2024 at IFSU Lagawe Campus, Lagawe, Ifugao. The recognition was given in acknowledgment of his exemplary act of surrendering valuable items to the authorities.

The HIP Awards recognize ordinary citizens who exemplify Filipino values of honesty, integrity, and public accountability. Dir. Ryan P. Mendano, Field Investigation of the Ombudsman, explained that the program aims to acknowledge random acts of exemplary behavior by ordinary citizens. He described the HIP Awards as a tool to inspire others to become champions of these core Filipino values.

The ceremony included messages from Vice President for Planning, Finance, and Resource Generation Dr. Diosdado M. Aquino, representative of IFSU President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, and Campus Executive Director Dr. Vicky K. Cadalig. Both messages emphasized the importance of honesty in society and the positive impact such actions can have.

"I stand before you today, humbled and honored, to receive the Honesty, Integrity, and Public Accountability Award," Mr. Cayong expressed. "This award is not just for me, but for all of us who believe in the values of honesty, integrity, and public accountability. A simple act of these values can transform lives and our community. Let us continue to uphold these values and strive to make a positive difference in our society."
