IFSU joins the National Intellectual Property Month 2023 celebration


Ifugao State University joined the celebration of the National Intellectual Property Month through the IP CARAVAN: The Futures of Intellectual Property, initiated and organized by the IFSU IPTBM Center. The primary goal of the caravan was to raise awareness of stakeholders on intellectual property (IP) rights and protection.

The Caravan started at IFSU Potia Campus on April 28, 2023. Among the officials who joined were Dr. Moses B. Appoy, Director of IPTBM Center together with the speakers from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines – Documentation, Information and Technology Transfer Bureau (IPOPHL-DITTB) Engineers Wilfredo Calaguan, Ma. Concepcion Zabala, Francis Louise Gutierrez, Brianne Nicole Sanchez and Ma. Winelma Garcia. The guests and participants were warmly welcomed by the Campus Executive Director of Potia Campus, Ms. Jocelyn T. Salviejo.

Following this, a series of seminars unfolded across various campuses of the University. The participants were educated on the process of recognizing, assessing, and safeguarding their IP assets.  They had also gained a deeper understanding of the significance of conducting comprehensive patent searching, and the potential consequences of infringing on other’s IP rights. Highlights in the sessions are the various avenues available for IP protection, including, licensing, technology transfer, and strategic partnerships.
