Christmas tree lighting signals IFSU Holiday celeb

Ifugao State University (IFSU) officially kicked off its month-long holiday celebration through a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on November 22, 2022 in front of the Administration Building at Lamut campus.

Pioneered in 2018 by the Department of Communication, Public and International Affairs (DCPIA), the annual Christmas tree lighting mirrors the University’s strong belief and faith that there is God Almighty who guides IFSU in all its undertakings and endeavors.

A parade of lanterns dubbed “Parada at Pailaw ng Pag-ibig at Pag-asa” brought a trail of bouncing lights fueled with the cheers and yells of students and employees that started from the campus, then through the national road, and commenced in front of the administration building.

In her message, University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon expressed delight with the full participation of the students and employees.

“This event that we are undertaking is the way IFSU is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ the Messiah, the Savior. It is more than remembering, but we want to make Christ a part of our lives, a part of our journey, our constant partner in whatever we do in the University, in the community, and in our homes,” stated Dr. Dugyon.

Dr. Dugyon also highlighted in her message that aside from love, faith, and hope, Christmas is also about giving.

“Christmas is also about giving. When we give our best, it reflects God’s goodness and character. Whatever we do and give this Christmas, let us be motivated by love because whenever we give gifts and services out of love then we are reflecting the character of the gift-giver himself who is God,” said Dr. Dugyon.

A display of Christmas Village is expected to open on December 1, 2022, for public viewing. Also, a weekly fun activity namely the best photo contest, “Imahe ng Pasko,” and a Christmas Caroling contest, “Himig ng Pag-asa,” shall be conducted.
