IFSU ROTC cadets promoted at Donning of Ranks, COQC Closing Ceremony

The Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) cadets of Ifugao State University (IFSU) received promotions at the Donning of Ranks of Advance ROTC Cadets and the Closing Ceremony of the Cadet Officer Qualifying Course (COQC) for AY 2023-2024, held today, April 13, 2024, at the Luis Hora Gymnasium, IFSU Lamut (Main) Campus.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Leudane L. Loñez, University Director of the Department of National Service Training Program. He emphasized the importance of carrying oneself with honor, leading with purpose, and upholding the core values of the ROTC and IFSU.

TSg Jayson M. Laño (Inf) PA, Operations and Training NCO, presented the 108 cadets who successfully completed the COQC. Following the presentation, COL Oscar B. Balignasay Jr. INF (GSC) PS, Commandant of IFSU ROTC, declared the ceremony closed, acknowledging the cadets' achievements and their readiness for future leadership roles.

Another highlight was the ceremonial Donning of Ranks to the 44 new Enlisted Reservists (ER), symbolizing their transition to higher responsibilities within the ROTC program and their commitment to service.

Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, IFSU President, delivered an inspirational message to the cadets. "The road ahead will not be easy," Dr. Dugyon said. "There will be challenges, setbacks, and moments of doubt, but, remember, the skills and values you have acquired through the ROTC program will equip you to overcome any obstacle." She further emphasized that leadership is about more than just rank or position. "Dearest students, leadership is not about ranks or positions," she said. "It is about having the courage to stand up for what is right, the compassion to understand the needs of others, and the wisdom to make sound decisions."

Guest of Honor and Speaker BGEN Samuel B. Manzano, PA, Deputy Commander of the Reserve Command Philippine Army (RCPA), reminded the cadets of their role as the hope of the nation. He urged them to uphold their responsibility to lead by example and prioritize the needs of others before their own. “Hold fast to the values of discipline, patriotism, and love for your country and people.”

The event concluded with a rendition of the Awit Kawal and Pilipinas kong Mahal, symbolizing the cadets' patriotism and commitment to serving their country.
