IFSU welcomes DA-BAR monitoring team


Ifugao State University (IFSU) welcomed the Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) monitoring team represented by project development officers Ms. Bernalin Cadayong-Cruz and Mr. Upjohn Rivera on April 18, 2022.

 

The visit highlighted the BAR-funded projects under the Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (ACEF), R4D Grant, in the University including the Upgrading of the Banana Tissue Culture Laboratory; Upgrading of Food Processing Laboratory; Upgrading of Indoor and Controlled Laboratory and Production Facility for Agaricus bisporus; Production and Market Enhancement of Galyang (Cyrtospera chamissonis) Taro Chips; and Establishing a Viable Enterprise Using Free Range Chicken Production Technology.

 

The key presenters discussed the projects’ updates and successes, as well as how these efforts are improving the sources of rural livelihood of farmer-partners. The DA-BAR team made recommendations to improve the project's processes to enhance their outputs leading to a sustainable impact on the families or communities involved.

 

Project and/or co-project leaders who presented the projects during the said visit include Dr. Elpidio B. Basilio Jr. (Banana Tissue Culture, and Free-Range Chicken Production), Josefa T. Dulinayan (Food Processing Laboratory), and Dr. Dinah Corazon M. Licyayo (Production Facility for Agaricus bisporus, and Taro Chips Production).

 

The DA-BAR team was warmly welcomed by Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, University President, in a courtesy visit accompanied by Dr. Licyayo, former VP for Research Development Extension and Training now VP for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Basilio Jr., Director of the Department of Research Development (DRD). //
