Showcase of talents marks 2022 Nat’l and Int’l Students’ Day


With the theme “Ikaw…Ako..Tayo: Bahagi ng Proseso at Boses ng Pagbabago,” students from the different colleges of Ifugao State University (IFSU) – Main Campus convened to celebrate this year’s National and International Students’ Day at the Open Court, Main Campus on November 17, 2022

In her opening remarks, Dinah Leohana B. Manzano, USSG Governor, said that the event recognizes the invaluable contribution of student activism to Philippine Democracy for initiating efforts to foster leadership among Filipino students as mandated by Republic Act No. 11369. She further encouraged fellow students to exert their best of their best as the moment is for them to shine.

Meanwhile, University President Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon represented by Dr. Freddie B. Caday, Vice President for Administration, stressed the role of students in effecting change through various worthwhile activities.

“An effective voice of change is active and committed, willing to undergo changes, open-minded to accept corrections, and willing to seek master’s guidance and to develop a positive mindset, “emphasized Dr. Caday.

Students from the six (6) colleges of the campus showcased a range of talents—from Battle of the Brains, Extemporaneous Speech, Declamation and IFSU Got Talent.

With a total of 140 points on the contested activities, the College of Education (COE) garnered First Place followed by the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) with 96 points. College of Health Sciences (CHS) grabbed 3rd Place with 74 points while the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) came 4th place bearing 73 points. Meanwhile, the College of Computing Sciences (CCS) ranked 5th place followed by the College of Agriculture and Home Sciences (CAHS).

Winning College Departments will receive a cash award of Php7,000.00, Php5,000.00, and Php4,000.00 for the First, Second, and Third places, respectively. Consolation prizes worth Php3,000.00 will be given to the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth places.

The event was spearheaded by University Student Supreme Government (USSG), Vocational Leaders of the Philippines College Chapter (VLPCC), and the Sports Organization under the supervision of the Department of Student Services and Development (DSSD).
