In line with its goal of excellent public service and good governance, Ifugao State University (IFSU) held a three-day assessment and target setting workshop on October 25-27, 2023, at the Dinadiawan Agri Resort in Aurora. The activity was attended by members of the administrative council, the policy-recommending body to the Board of Regents (BOR).

The assessment focused on the university's accomplishments and lessons learned from its Strategic Plan and Direction in 2018-2022. Participants reviewed performance indicators vis-à-vis their contribution to each Key Result Area (KRA) of the Objectives outlined under each goal, namely: Academic Excellence, Strong Research Leadership and Culture, Sustainable Extension and Community Engagement, and Excellent Public Service and Good Governance.

Based on the assessment, the group set performance targets for 2024-2026 and planned the corresponding performance indicators. They presented these targets to the council members for deliberation and input to ensure alignment with the University's trajectory.

In setting the target, the team considered the following: AmBisyon Natin 2040: The country's long-term vision of a future where every Filipino enjoys a state of Matatag, Maginhawa, at Panatag na Buhay by the year 2040; Philippine Quality Awards (PQA): A national award that recognizes organizations that have demonstrated excellence in quality management; Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requirements and priority courses; and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): A set of 17 goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, University President, noted that the assessment and target setting activity is important for IFSU because it allows the University to track its progress towards its goals and objectives, identify areas for improvement, and set targets for 2024-2026.

By considering inputs from the PQA and CHED, and making conscious efforts to integrate the SDGs into the University's activities, IFSU is ensuring that it is on track to sustaining its global recognition as a university that is committed to quality, globalization, and sustainability.

The administrative council at IFSU is composed of 51 members, who are heads of different colleges, campuses, and departments within the university. They discuss and recommend policies and proposals to the BOR, the highest governing body of the University.
