IFSU students, alumni pitch business ideas in joint DTI-CHED contest


Ten (10) students and alumni of Ifugao State University (IFSU) successfully presented their business ideas to personnel from the Department of Trade and Industry and Commission on Higher Education (DTI-CHED) during the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) and Project MARITES (Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Students-Grantees) at the IFSU Lamut Campus on September 21, 2022.

The said program is a collaboration of CHED and DTI that aims to provide entrepreneurship training to existing young entrepreneurs and student-grantees.

Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, University President, represented by Dr. Mary P. Caclini, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) said that the project will be one of the best practices that IFSU can be proud of. “This program helps the University achieve two of its goals which are the employment of graduates, and global recognition,” added Dr. Caclini.

“We hope to see you someday as Chief Executive Officers or CEOs in your own businesses who will be employing more IFSU graduates or will help in employment generation. I believe this dream is achievable and it could be done by you.”

First place was Dayah’s Food products by Diana Mae D. Pimentel while Happy Eggs Production by Sherwood B. Pinkihan took Second place. RV’s Farm/Itik Egg Production by Judelein B. Bungalan placed third.

The top 2 winners will represent the province in the upcoming Regional Business Pitch Competition which will be held on October 19, 2022, in Baguio City.

In the Special Awards for Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES), Kevin Cellphone Repair Shop by Kevin Bayongobong got first place while LME Piggery Farm by Louie Mar Eheng snatched second place. Piggery Production by Reymark Fabillar placed third.

Tajjab Coffee by Gretchen Tayaban; Native Rice Brew Processing by Marlyn M. Naliwan; Selaspell Fashion Design by Sheila Jane l. Lagayan; and Lyamber Food Products by Rowena Penoj-an received consolation prizes.

Dr. Michele Jaymalin-Dulay, University Special Focal for UniFAST, lauded the young entrepreneurs for their active participation and hoped they will actualize their business ideas. She further thanked CHED-CAR and DTI for their support as the university’s partners.
