IFSU shares new books on Ifugao Culture

After years of extensive research, the Ifugao State University has successfully published and is proud to share two (2) new books featuring the Ifugao’s rich cultural heritage.

1st, the INABOL: Ifugao Traditional and Contemporary Textiles @ 2020, a coffee table book that documents the hand-woven textiles of Ifugao, and 2nd, the Ifugao Indigenous Knowledge, Systems and Practices @ 2021, a textbook on various Ifugao IKSPs.

The book contents were contributed by various Ifugao scholars, academicians, IK holders and practitioners. The book’s Foreword was written by former Senator Loren Legarda who provided the funding for the research and subsequent publication of these

books. IFSU President Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon wrote the Preface. University Professor Serafin Ngohayon led the team of researchers and writers.

The books are a valuable addition to the supplementary teaching and learning materials of the University in its IKSP subject and the IP Education (IPEd) program of the Department of Education (DepEd). It is hoped to foster a better understanding and encourage preservation and promotion of these indigenous knowledge, systems, and practices developed over centuries and millennia.

For researchers, copies can be found in IFSU Libraries. Teachers and students may secure copies at production cost only from the IFSU Career Development Center, IFSU Potia Campus, email: [email protected].
