CAS Psychology Dep’t holds 2nd pinning rites


Eleven (11) future psychology practitioners embark on another phase in their academic journey as they received their official name pins on November 4, 2022, during the 2nd Pinning Ceremony of Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

With the theme, “Fostering the Emergence of Morally Upright, Socially Responsible, and Culturally Sensitive Psychology Professionals,” the event marks the beginning of the journey of senior students into their psychology profession.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Donato O. Abaya, Chairperson of the Bachelor of Psychology program said, the pinning ceremony signifies the students’ readiness in terms of competence, maturity, and character to enter the world as On-the-Job Training (OJT) students.

Guest speaker Leslie Doris M. Divina, a Guidance Counselor and Top 1 in the 2019 Guidance Counselor Licensure Examination complimented the students and wished them success in their chosen profession. In her message, she shared that she herself is a work in progress thus, students must not be easily discouraged by the burdens and challenges of life but rather be determined to carry the cross and move forward. She also reminded the students to always have positive values and attitudes.

Witnessed by families, students, faculty, and University officials, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, University President conferred the 11 senior students who are ready to be on board for a life-long learning experience as student interns in reputable institutions.

The student interns are Em-em B. Bayachan, Judelyn Rose B. Bulatao, Jameelie P. Flores, Ronalyn T. Ingan-o, Claudine A. Lango, Donna B. Naupo, Melanie A. Natama, Menalyn M. Nginhena, Lorilei Lani L. Orig, Gracelyn Joy C. Taguiling and Jesrael B. Tucli.

Dr. Dugyon expressed her felicitations to the student interns and stressed that the event is a manifestation of the commitment, tenacity, and resilience of Ifugao State University (IFSU) in inculcating its core values and the education the University has armed its students.

“We commend you for making it this far. We are now arming you to signal the innovation of your full potential as future Psychometricians, Psychologists, Guidance Counselors, mental health professionals, and many more professions and opportunities that you can choose as a career path,” she added. “I expect you to always hold high the torch of Ifugao State University by being excellent and values-oriented students. Embrace the culture of efficiency, integrity, and leadership.”

To officially welcome them into the profession, the students were donned with their official name pins.

A Message of Gratitude to Parents was delivered by Mr. Tucli and a Professional Pledge led by Ms. Bulatao followed.

On the other hand, partner agencies and institutions, namely: Hapid National High School, Lawig National High School, Ifugao Provincial Science High School, Padayon Psych Psychological Center, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Tam-an BMPC, and Technical Vocational High School signed Memoranda of Agreements for student- internship.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jamaica G. Bumidang, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, reminded the student trainees of the enormous responsibilities behind the emblem they wore.

“Always remember that the pin is not just an emblem or souvenir to keep but rather a representation of huge responsibilities. May those pins serve as fire to ignite the psychological spirit within you,” said Dr. Bumidang.
