Ifugao State University (IFSU) campuses in Tinoc and Potia, Alfonso Lista collaborated with their respective municipal Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) offices to conduct fire and earthquake drills on separate dates this month. The Fire Drill coincided with March as Fire Prevention Month, themed "Sa pag-iwas sa sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa.”

BFP personnel led lecture demonstrations at both campuses, focusing on fire safety measures and earthquake preparedness. The sessions, led by Acting Municipal Fire Marshal Andy T. Puguon of the Tinoc BFP on March 3 and Fire Officer Armando Genaro G. Ylarde of the Alfonso Lista BFP on March 13, aimed to promote a safe learning and working environment through fire prevention education, awareness campaigns, and proactive measures.

The drills included presentations on fire hazards and proper fire extinguisher use, followed by practices on evacuation procedures and rescue demonstrations conducted by BFP and IFSU employees and students.

These fire safety initiatives contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By ensuring emergency preparedness, IFSU protects the health and well-being of its students and staff (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being). Fire and earthquake drills empower personnel and students for effective emergency response, minimizing disruptions to their education and contributing to SDG 4: Quality Education. Moreover, fire safety measures are essential for building resilient communities (SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities).#Faith B. Napudo with reports from The Greenfields of Potia Campus
