IFSU President updates on mishap encountered by his family

By: Jill Bulayungan Saquing,

A statement has been released today by Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon, President, Ifugao State University, relative to the accident met by his family while traversing Caranglan Road, Nueva Ecija on their way home on December 24,2016.

Dr. Ngohayon and his three kids Paul John, Hanaku and Josh escaped the tragedy but unfortunately claimed the life of Mrs. Febie Tejada-Ngohayon.

Dr. Ngohayon is recuperating following his surgery on December 25 at the Veterans Regional Hospital, Bayombong Nueva Vizcaya and is set to go home accordingly at anytime. His children are also declared out of danger.

In an earlier statement sent to IFSU family, Dr. Ngohayon “thanked everyone for the outpouring of concern, love and devotion. “

He also thanked God that through everyone’s prayers, his kids are okay. He asked everyone to continue praying for the repose of the soul of his wife Febie.

Below is Dr. Ngohayon’s statement:

“To all

While we are in a state of shock and grief, it’s fair to inform you all that my beloved wife and the loving mother of our three children, passed away so suddenly in a tragic accident that happened on December 24, on or about 6:30 in the morning.

We were going home to Isabela, almost approaching dalton pass, when a truck skidded w/ its trailer perfectly blocking our way. No matter how our driver braked, our vehicle still hit the tail end, making it overturn until it reached a canal and stopped there with it’s top at the bottom.

Our children luckily sustained minor injuries, me and my wife sustaining major injuries that unfortunately left her lifeless upon reaching the hospital. With all the unbearable pain and emotional vacuum we are feeling right now, it’s consoling to know that Febie is in God’s hands now.

We just came from a pilgrimage to Israel, where we visited the birthplace of Jesus – Bethlehem; the place where he started his ministry and performed several miracles – Nazareth (Jordan River, Sea of Galilee, Cana, etc); and the place where he was crucified, died, buried and rose on the third day – Jerusalem ( Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Calvary, Golgotha, church of Holy Sepulcher).

Throughout our travel we were so happy and felt so blessed to have walked the path Jesus walked. But most specially for my wife, who gave it all, cried profusely in Jesus Tomb.

Throughout her life, she dedicated herself for the love of us, me, her husband and our three children, whom I can say with utmost sincerity, we have not become who we are now today without her, and to her parents, my parents and relatives in the best way she could. She left indelible imprint in the lives of her sisters, her friends and the people she met in this journey of life including you all.

As we say goodbye to her in this earthly life, let us not look at her frailties but of her goodness of heart and send her off with a prayer. “Lord Jesus into your hands we entrust Febie. Please accept her into Your kingdom.”

She is currently laid in wake at our house in Purok 2, Brgy. Castillo, Echague, Isabela.

Serafin L. Ngohayon, Husband

P.S. I was operated for multiple fractures on the left leg. I know I was spared, on my wife’s behest for me to look after our children. “For those looking for updates about Dr. Ngohayon and his family, may I please share his official statement on what really transpired last Saturday morning as follows:

Me and my children are at a state of shock and grief that my beloved wife and the loving mother of our three children, passed away so suddenly in a tragic accident that happened on December 24, on or about 6:30 in the morning. We were going home to Isabela, when a truck skidded w/ its trailer perfectly blocking our way. No matter how our driver braked, the truck still hit us turning our vehicle upside down thrown into a canal. Our children sustained minor injuries, me and my wife sustaining major injuries that unfortunately left her lifeless upon reaching the hospital. Losing Febie is unbearable with only the belief that She is God’s hands that consoles us.

We just came from Israel, where we visited the birthplace of Jesus – Bethlehem; the place where He started his ministry and performed several miracles – Nazareth (Jordan River, Sea of Galilee, Cana, etc); and the place where He was crucified, died, buried and rose on the third day – Jerusalem ( Mount of Olives, Gethsemane, Calvary, Golgotha, church of Holy Sepulcher). She was so happy as we felt so blessed to have walked the path Jesus walked. In Jesus’ tomb, she cried and gave it all. Little did i know that she may be surrendering her life to Him.

Throughout her life, she dedicated herself for the love of us, me, her husband and our three children. She is the reason we are where we are now.

As you mourn with us, please say this prayer with us: “Lord Jesus into your hands we entrust Febie. Welcome her into Your kingdom.”

She is currently laid in wake at our house in Purok 2, Brgy. Castillo, Echague, Isabela.

Serafin L. Ngohayon

P.S. I was operated for multiple fractures on the left leg. I know I was spared, on my wife’s behest for me to look after our children. I’ll be at my wife’s side by Dec. 28. Interment is on Jan. 3, 2017. #
