Civil servants reminded of their profession’s nobility

The theme of the 115th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service Commission (CSC) was emphasized during the launching of the CSC Month Celebration at the Ifugao State University (IFSU) reminding employees of their profession’s nobility on September 7, 2015.

Government agencies in Ifugao simultaneously launched the Civil Service Month Celebration as agreed during the meeting of the Ifugao Council of Human Resource Management Practitioners. This is in compliance to the Philippine Civil Service Memorandum Circular Number 9 series of 2015 enjoining every government agency to take part in the celebration of the 115th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

California’s ERES okays credentials of IFSU – TNE grad

Hoa Mai Hoang 4The California based Educational Records Evaluation Service (ERES) evaluated the degrees acquired by a graduate of Ifugao State University (IFSU) – Transnational Education (TNE) and approved them to have United States (US) equivalence.

Hoa Mai Hoang of Vietnam graduated Doctor of Business Administration under the IFSU – TNE Program in collaboration with EDS Business School, Penang, Malaysia. She had her Master of Business Administration at the University of Bolton, United Kingdom, and Bachelor of Foreign Degree at Hanoi University, Vietnam.

Peace Corps Response program to partner with IFSU

US Peace Corps for the webUnited States (US) Peace Corps Manila, Philippines signified intent to partner with the Ifugao State University (IFSU) through its Response program in a meeting with IFSU President Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon on August 18, 2015 at the Main Campus.

“Our Peace Corps Response program has experience and skilled volunteers who are ready to be deployed in the Philippines for a short-term average period of seven months, which is different from our regular volunteers whose placements are in two-year period,” explained Milosile E. Foreign visiting professor holds first meeting with IFSU studes

Prof Asano for the webVisiting Professor Toshio Asano of Kobe Gakuin University (KGU), Japan, shared insights to IFSU students during lectures organized by IFSU administrators at IFSU Main and Hapao campuses on August 1 to 14, 2015.

This is the first time for IFSU to have a foreign visiting professor.

IFSU President Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon explained that having Prof. Asano as a visiting professor from Japan is in line with the continuing collaboration of IFSU and KGU.

It can be recalled that KGU and IFSU students have been conducting annual cultural and academic exchange for six years, the last time was in February to March this year.

Hani Rice Terraces 2A forum held at IFSU Main Campus raised awareness on China’s Hani Rice Terraces and its similarities with the Ifugao Rice Terraces (IRT) on July 28, 2015.

The international forum on “Current Global Challenges and its Relevance to the Ifugao Rice Terraces System” was a joint undertaking of Yunnan Normal University, IFSU, United Nations University – Institute for the Advanced Sustainability (UNU-IAS), University of the Philippines (UP), and the Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN).

Pre-departure orientation rendered to Israel OJT studes

Pres and agri studes 2A pre-departure orientation in preparation for the on-the-job training (OJT) of IFSU agriculture students in Israel was rendered by Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon on July 27, 2015.

The OJT is a joint undertaking of IFSU and Granot Agrostudies, a company that runs the OJT program in Israel. Fifty-five slots for IFSU were acquired last year.

Cancer embattled IFSU supporter now finds rest

Dr Mahiwo 4A long-time supporter of the Ifugao State University (IFSU) died at age 64 after battling with cancer for more or less two years on July 20, 2015.

Hungduan local Dr. Sylvano D. Mahiwo is best remembered as IFSU’s consultant for Japan related activities and for helping IFSU link with Japan Embassy, Japan universities, and Japan Foundation based in Manila for assistance.
