IFSU Tourism pulls off 1st ever Travel Expo

IFSU Main- Tourism Department, College of Arts and Science (CAS) had their first ever travel exposition at the Luis Hora Gymnasium on May 4-5, 2017.

This is in partnership with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Department of Trade and Industry.

The general objective of the event is to bring the tourism industry to the students and to the practitioners.

The opening remarks was given by Dr. Rommel Sumeg-ang, Dean, CAS. Dr. Serafin L. Ngohayon, IFSU President also gave his message.

Series of speakers were also present in the said event.

Mr. Rodolfo Lumague Jr., lectured on the ‘Trends in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry’ while Ms. Minnie Brillante, Brillante Travel Services lectured on ‘Hospitality and Travel Marketing Trends.’ Ms. Lilian Umanhan, Department of Trade and Industry talked about ‘Product Development in the Tourism Industry’ and Mr. Al Santos, Boracay Options Travel and Tours Services talked on ‘Multi-Lingualism and Advantage in Global Industry.’

Afterwards, skills demonstration of Fruit Carving, Bartending, Flower Arrangement and Napkin & Towel Folding to showcase what the students learnt during their skills training workshop on April 24-28, 2017 in the IFSU Main Campus were made.

Booth exhibits were also displayed in the said event.

The booth exhibits are from the different Municipal Local Government Units of Ifugao (Alfonso Lista, Kiangan, and Lamut); Travel Agencies like Brillante Travels and Tours and Boracay Options Tours and Travel, Inc.; Students’ booths for EcoTourism; Philippine Destinations; and Foreign Language.

The closing remarks was given by Dr. Sumeg-ang. #
